Kailani Maki'i

Laid-back and easy-going, Kailani hailed from Hawaii and was always fond of surfing - a sport which ultimately led to her demise when, after having completed one term at Deveraux, she returned home for Winter Break and tragically drowned in a surfing accident. She was replaced by Stephanie Mathers.

Standing at 5'7'', Kailani was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her light brown hair is lightened naturally by the sun. It wouldn't be a surprise to see salt-deposits on her ultra-tan skin after a day at the beach. Kailani has various barely noticeable scars all over her body, mainly on her arms and legs. This would be from unlucky times she crashed upon the reefs after wipe-ing out on her surf-board.

She spends most of her free time doing work with her dad, who is a biologist working at the wild sea-life preserve. Called Kai by everyone on the island, she can usually be found with the other local children out at the reef. Some of them are self-appointed "treasure-seekers", but Kai knows better and surfs to find her own kind of treasures - reef caves. Only sharing her secret with a few friends and family, these hidden caves are testimony to the beauty of nature.

Kai has always been laid-back and easy-going. Always respectful to Hawaiian religion of nature, she loves the ocean and the sea.

Her father, a native Hawaiian; her mother, Chinese. She speaks both English and Hawaiian. Kai knows a little Cantonese, from what her mother teaches her. Kai has one older sister, and three younger brothers. There is only a mild sibling rivalry between the five kids. She feels closest to her brother, who is only a year younger.

During the summers, if she's not out at the reef or with her dad, she goes into town to help guide the tourists. Also during tourist season she works for her cousin's surfing and scuba-diving class.

Kailani loves the ocean, and even daydreamed about being a mermaid when she was younger. She always dreamed of becoming a marine biologist like her father. And staying near the ocean, surfing and diving to her little hearts content. So imagine her surprise on that fateful day, when she had barely made it through her largest wave. As she took the tiring walk back up the beach, she found a Spy High Selector Agent waiting for her, holding her beach towel.
