Kelly O'Connell

Married to Liam O'Connell, Kelly is originally from Beacon Hill and is now residing in the Roxbury area of Boston. Having recently given birth to twins, she has been struggling to balance looking after the twins with looking after her only mental and emotional well being. A number of events have put a strain on her marriage to Liam but they are working through their differences. A kick-boxing instructor, Kelly is slowly returning to her career and leading a more well balanced life.

Kelly can best be described as a tomboy beanpole. Standing at 5'7'', the same height as her husband, she is on the verge of being underweight, even though she denies that she is. Her excuse is that she works as a kick-boxing teacher, and the constant exercise keeps her thin. She isn't exactly very well endowed in a certain area but this allows her to get away with certain daring outfits. The features of her face are quite chiselled and her lips pouty, giving the impression of a girl who can look after herself, which is the truth. She has chocolate brown hair that matches her brown eyes. She is normally found in comfy tracksuit and tank top for her job, with her hair swept away from her face in a ponytail.

She has a very feisty personality to go in common with her job and can very much hold her own and not need to depend on a man. This is one of the things her husband, Liam, likes so much about her, but she has a calming influence on him. She never sees the point in arguing with someone who can argue straight back at her, and this works well with Liam's quick temper.

She isn't one to go with tradition and what her family wants her to do, especially shown when she broke up with Ciaran to start going out with Liam, a lesser man in her parent's eyes. They wanted her to go up in the world and to have everything she wanted. They saw Ciaran as Kelly's way to be able to achieve their aspirations for her. She is a very independent woman and never normally lets a man get in the way of what she wants to do.

She knows what Liam does for a living, and though she never asks too many questions she has a fair picture of everything that her husband does. He only ever tells her what she asks for and nothing more and most of the time Kelly is happy with this exchange of details.

Kelly was born in Beacon Hill, Boston as an only child to William and Niamh Hayes, who were descendants from Irish immigrants. Her parents had worked hard to build up what they had, and buying a house in Beacon Hill was the crowning glory of their achievements.

Her parents always encouraged her to work hard and do the best she could to a point where they were pressuring her too much and the strain got to her, nearly causing her to have a mental breakdown. She took up kick-boxing to take out her excess frustrations on something so she didn't keep arguing with her parents so much. She discovered she had a talent for it and studied to get a qualification in teaching it, and then started teaching at the place where she had learned it first of all.

Her parents were not happy with her choice of career but she was happy with what she was doing, so were undecided what to do. It wasn't until Kelly started dating Ciaran Buckley, that they felt truly happy with how their daughter had turned out. She had been dating Ciaran for a few months, moved into his apartment and he had given her the money so she could set up her own kick-boxing school, which she was delighted with. She really felt that she was truly in love with Ciaran until someone came to see Ciaran on business.

She later discovered his name was Liam O'Connell, and started to notice that Liam was coming to see Ciaran a lot more than any other of her partner's business associates. The more she saw of Liam the more she started to realise that she didn't love Ciaran any more. She had just seen him as a way to make her parents happy and she wasn't making herself happy, which was the main idea of love for Kelly.

She broke up with Ciaran and moved out of his apartment, living above her kick-boxing gym. She couldn't help but think of Liam at this time. She didn't have to wait long until Liam made a move for her and they started dating.

She was overjoyed when Liam got a promotion and asked to marry her. She had finally found the person that she loved so much she would do anything for, even try to ignore what he did for a living as much as she could. She is now living in Roxbury with Liam and still runs her kick-boxing gym, which has grown so much to her delight.
