Description

Appearance

Not particularly tall at 5'3'' and slimly built with no curves to her figure, Lindsay has personally always considered herself a to be a plain Jane. Her hazel eyes almost matched the colour of her golden light brown hair - or at least, until she began to dye her shoulder-length, slightly wavy tresses auburn instead at the age of thirteen. She's still not content with her hair, however, often tying it back into a ponytail or loose bun for lack of what to do with it. Lindsay has a heart-shaped face only very rarely adorned with make-up, pale skin, a sweet smile and a warm-hearted laugh.

Very casual in the way she dresses, Lindsay will often be seen in baggy jeans, t-shirts and trainers. She usually has a slightly artistic element in what she wears, such as a pen tucked behind her ear or paintbrushes holding up her hair.

Personality

Carpe diem is Lindsay's basic life philosophy. She sees every day as an opportunity and is very optimistic about life, particularly the creative and cultural side of it. She's not ashamed to admit to being a huge pop culture fan, loving music, television and, above all, film. Also an avid reader and aspiring writer, Lindsay can often be seen with her nose in a science-fiction or mystery novel or writing novels of her own. What Lindsay likes the most is when she can combine her love of films with her love of writing - in fact, her job at her old school newspaper was to write up film reviews.

Writing sometimes scathing reviews came almost as second nature to Lindsay due to another quality of her personality: her incessant honesty. Lindsay finds it very hard to keep a secret or lie and will often speak her mind without thinking of the consequences. She herself has always called it her strength and her weakness.

By no means unintelligent, Lindsay's smarts shine more through the artistic sides of the school curriculum - although she can draw, write, argue and analyse very well, Math has always been a mystery to her along with Physics and Chemistry. As for sports, Lindsay has always been average at most of them, although she does have a particular fondness for long-distance running. Her preference for running accurately reflects another part of her personality: Lindsay absolutely despises the idea of being trapped and is essentially a free spirit, which can often make her reluctant to stay in the same place for too long. In much the same manner, she prefers to run away from her problems rather than facing them head-on.

Lindsay has often suffered from self-esteem issues, always considering herself to be less attractive than her friends and mostly anyone else around her. She sees herself as less important than others, as merely the plain girl in the corner with her sketchbook or notepad watching whilst others live the life she can only dream about when watching movies.

History

Although Lindsay was born in Orlando, Florida, she moved to her mother's hometown of Boston, Massachusetts at the age of seven when her parents divorced. Lindsay doesn't really see her father, Isaac, very often anymore and when she does she feels like he's almost a stranger to her, but she still always carries around a pen that he once gave her tucked behind her ear.

When Lindsay was twelve, however, her whole life changed after her mother, Marissa, decided to marry her boyfriend Charlie, whom she'd been seeing for just over a year. Both Lindsay and her sister Jenny resented Charlie simply for not being their real father, with Jenny going so far as to leave home the minute she got into College and refusing to speak to anyone in the family apart from Lindsay.

Having always admired her older sister from a young age, Lindsay would often copy Jenny's attitudes towards Charlie, ignoring everything he said and pretending she didn't even notice he was there. However, Lindsay wasn't able to keep the act up for long, soon beginning to actually listen to Charlie and finding out he wasn't such a bad person after all. She grew to accept him gradually, although she doesn't like the fact that they look far too different for her to ever be able to pass Charlie off for her father.

At school, Lindsay was always just "acceptable", never in any particular clique and well-liked by most people. Her best friend was a girl she'd known since Primary School called Jessica, or at least until Jessica found out that Lindsay had a crush on her boyfriend, Michael. After that, although she wasn't alone, Lindsay couldn't find a friend as close as Jessica had been.

Aside from working for the school newspaper, Lindsay helped to found a Creative Writing Club at her school and attended it for many years, not knowing that her teacher was actually a Deveraux Selector Agent. Having always hung back after lessons, Lindsay was extremely surprised when one day Mr Alberry offered her a place at Deveraux College, but was more than happy to accept.

Upset by her mother's second marriage, as soon as Jenny was accepted into college she left home and hasn't spoken to her mother or her stepfather since. Currently studying for an Art degree and living with her fiancé, Giuseppe Bellucci, in New Jersey, Jenny still often speaks to her sister and is seen by Lindsay as somewhat of an idol.

Charles Lawson — Stepfather
Caitlyn Ma — Best Friend

While originally a Newbolt candiate, Caitlyn was moved into Hannay at the beginning of the year due to removal of unsuitable candidates. Born in China, she lived there for ten years with her Chinese father and her Scottish mother. However after the murder of her father, Caitlyn and her mother fled from China and returned to Scotland. The time between her father's death and attending Deveraux were one of the most unstable times of her life. She sought control over whatever she could, her food intake. On admittance to Deveraux it was noted that she was borderline anorexic and would have to be monitored closely. Her recovery was in part due to her former boyfriend Leon Thomas and the confidence that he gave her. They grew apart and are now just friends.
