Nicola Ridley

A girl from Northern England, Nicky has always worked hard to achieve her potential. She is hard working and fiercely defensive of her friends and will step in to protect them as much as she can. It can give the impression that she is being nosey but she would rather that than seeing her friends hurt.

Nicky is quite tall at 5'9'' and is lanky due to her height but needs to work on her physical ability. She has shoulder-length brown hair with purple streaks in, but they are growing out and she is contemplating having them taken out. She has vibrant green eyes that stand out against her skin tone. Nearly always seen in some form of jeans but can only rarely be found in a skirt as she doesn't like the shape of her legs particularly. She feels most comfortable when she is in her favourite jeans and a tank top.

She seems on the surface to be serious and doesn't want to get in trouble, but has a humorous side to her character. Gets on with pretty much everyone if they are nice to her, but does have a fiery temper if someone insults her. She is fiercely protective of her friends and doesn't like to see people hurt. She will easily warn someone if she doesn't feel say, for example, that a boy is right for a girl. This does give the impression that she is uptight and very nosy, but she believes she is only doing what is morally right according to her. She has a very intellectual humour that can go over some people's heads. She is very hard working and always tries to concentrate to get something done the right way even though it may not be the quickest way to do it. Once she has finished something, she will have fun, but not before that.

Nicky was born in Manchester, England where she grew up with her mum, dad and little brother, Leo, who is five years younger than her. Her mum and dad are multi-lingual as they worked as freelance translators for some major international businesses and very much promoted learning languages for both their children. Though English is the first language at home, other Europa languages such as French and Spanish were used regularly. Her parents believed that foreign languages made you easier to employ and more of a worldly person. They always wanted their daughter to complete her dreams and languages would help her with this.

Nicky was very academic at school in most subjects apart from physical ones like Physical Education, and with her talent for foreign languages she easily progressed through school, which brought her to the attention of Spy High. She was always seen as a quiet child and mature for age, to the point where it was seen that she was a recluse and very much a swot. She was known for doing as she was told and never disobeying a teacher's orders. She developed a flair for technology such as computers just by constantly using the Internet to further certain research she needed to do and also because of her parents lack of co-ordination with technology, she had to cope with how to work new appliances. This at the moment is only at a competent level. It was only when she became a teenager that she felt like she needed to make a change and started to rebel by first dying her hair with streaks, but she hasn't got any further than that.
