Nora Autumn O'Brian

Tall, at 5'8'', with a thick build. Not really overweight, but stocky. She has bright red, tightly curled hair that falls to her upper back. It has a tendency to be frizzy, and she usually keeps it tied back in a ponytail and gelled into place. She sometimes wears it down, though, and it looks gorgeous when it will lay flat. Her face is round and very freckled, with eyes that change from mossy green to icy blue with her mood. She has vision problems, having not gotten surgery since they aren't too bad, and has to wear either her glasses or contacts to see small details or to read.

Nora is usually quite calm and sensible. She doesn't jump to conclusions about anything, and always tries to see all the sides of a problem. This can be quite frustrating when her friends are upset, because instead of partaking in their righteous anger, she stays calm and has the person explain exactly what happened, and then finds other people involved, and gets the story from them as well. However, when Nora finds something that does manage to stir her anger, the results are horrible for the recipient of her outrage. Rather than getting all upset and acting out spontaneously, Nora will plot out revenge with icy rage. Her family and friends often say that Nora doesn't get mad - she gets even.

She is a caring person who will go out of her way to help her friends, and even sometimes people she hardly knows. While she's not religious, her father and mother both were, so she has strong morals. An irrepressible optimist, Nora always manages to see the good in every situation, which can get very annoying. However, Nora has next to no self-discipline, and cannot resist temptation, whether it be procrastinating on her school work, or staying up way too late at a party even though she has to get up early the next morning.

Nora's mother is a Free-Ager, a member group of people mainly concentrated in the Midwest who practice an odd mix of Christianity and paganism which combines monotheism and the belief that Christ died for the sins of man-kind with aura-reading and a deep respect of nature that nears worship, who worked as a gardener and substitute teacher. Her father was a Catholic Marine. While Nora was younger, they were a wonderful family. But, when Nora was 10 and her younger sister 8, Nora's father decided to teach them to shoot. While tolerance of other beliefs was a main component of Free-Ageism, so was non-violence, and Nora's mother would not tolerate her daughters being taught to use weapons so young. This, coupled with monetary issues and other problems their parents had been having, led to a divorce. Nora and her sister began to move between their father and mother's separate houses, switching every two weeks. As such, Nora had to become very good at taking care of her younger sister, since their parents never talked and often didn't know what was going on with the girls' schooling and social lives despite their attempts. Nora's father did end up teaching the girls to shoot, and Nora became quite good at it, being best at shooting while in motion, which most people found the hardest to master. He also taught them basic self-defence. Nora picked up a talent with plants from her mother. While quite smart, Nora's laziness and the moves between her mom and dad's houses often meant that she didn't get her homework done, so she got good, if not outstanding, grades in school. She was first spotted by a Selector Agent at the Marine base on which Nora lived with her father at the age of 11, when he noticed her on the base's shooting range. She was hence monitored, and Deveraux chose her for her even temperament, rationality, and skill at shooting.
