The Roxbury Gang

History
The Roxbury Gang is believed to have originated as a splinter group from the original Irish Mob in Boston, which began as long ago as the Prohibition of the 1920s and 1930s. It has been known under several different names in the past, but its most recent was bestowed upon it by Cassidy Reid herself, who decided to pay homage to the legendary, now extinct Winter Hill Gang and also name it after her own neighbourhood.
At the beginning of the 2100s, when a sixteen-year-old Liam O'Connell was beginning to work for the mob members in his local neighbourhood of Roxbury, the Leader of the gang was a man named Arthur Doyle and Cassidy Reid, aged thirty-one, was well-established as the organisation's best assassin. It was another talent that Cassidy possessed, however, that made her the only person suitable for succeeding Doyle - although she could be completely ruthless if necessary, she was also an expert at putting on a show of elegance and sophistication. Indeed, when Doyle died in 2112 under mysterious circumstances - many suspected Cassidy herself was responsible for his death, but none dared to vocalise their opinions - it was Cassidy who took his place.
Cassidy will often make a point that she doesn't need to use elaborate means to convince people to join the Roxbury Gang - anybody who follows her does it out of their own accord. When she became Leader, Liam O'Connell's loyalty was rewarded and she promoted him to her right-hand man. Part of Cassidy's reasoning behind this, however, was the fact that she also believed she had risen high enough to no longer have to carry out any of the dirty work herself. Focused solely on keeping the members of the Roxbury Gang in line and making sure the Boston Police Department and Massachusetts State Police remain in her back pocket, Cassidy gives out all her orders through Liam and many of the members of the Roxbury Gang have never even met her in person.
The Roxbury Gang consists almost entirely of Irish-Americans, and maintaining the Irish legacy in Boston is a top priority for Cassidy Reid. They show great animosity particularly towards Italian-Americans, which are often referred to in a very derogatory manner as guineas. This has led to a strong dislike of the Gargoyles, who are in the process of moving into New York and taking over what Roxbury consider to be 'their' territory. It was partly to prove to the Gargoyles that Roxbury are not a gang to be crossed that Cassidy Reid most recently ordered and had carried out the assassination of Anthony Rian, a prominent member of the Gargoyles. In addition to this, Cassidy has recruited an ex-Gargoyle, Adam Stanley (now known as Brian Murray) to provide her with information. Now, all she awaits is the Gargoyles' response...
Criminal Activities: Cassidy Reid has made a small fortune from running the gang, allowing her to buy a great deal of pubs, restaurants, hotels and other legitimate small businesses in Boston. The gang itself engages in racketeering, drug trafficking, money laundering, extortion, hijacking, fraud and black marketeering, but also has a great deal of control over all gambling that goes on within the city's boundaries and will kill or beat up anybody for a price. Over the years, they have established a somewhat interesting off-the-books relationship with the Boston Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police - many police officers turn a blind eye towards their activities as long as they keep to certain areas of the city and many more are bribed into keeping their mouths shut.
